Mathematics is made of 50 percent formulas, 50 percent proofs, and 50 percent imagination.
"A mathematician is a device for turning coffee into theorems" (P. Erdos) Addendum: American coffee is good for lemmas.
An engineer thinks that his equations are an approximation to reality. A physicist thinks reality is an approximation to his equations. A mathematician doesn't care.
Old mathematicians never die; they just lose some of their functions.

Astronomers Trace The Evolution Of The
First Galaxies In The Universe

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/09/060913190315.htm
This diagram shows a short timeline of the universe. At very early times (< 10-32 seconds), it is thought that the universe had this very rapid inflationary phase, where quantum fluctuations were blown up to macroscopic scales. After this brief period of exponential growth, the universe then transitioned in a more gradual phase of expansion and cooling. At a time of 400,000 years after the Big Bang, protons first recombined with the available electrons in an event known as recombination, leaving photons to wander the universe freely. The universe then entered a relatively dark age for a period of several hundred million years, until the first stars and galaxies formed. Subsequent to this time, galaxies have merging and coalescing to become larger and more mature systems. (Credit: NASA/WMAP Science Team)

hi to all
i am in bangalore today.iisc a nice place the walls are ok but the ground seems to be brought from any village .some house of some old big guns of the village (zamindars's house) .one of such was my grandfathers.
but the climate is really cool.
but iis it so that the old ones dont want to change.
may be thats why they are called old.
i hoped they may not be liked that they are the professors of iisc but they are still with classic control methods not going for neural network and fuzzy controls.
